It is advised (and strictly recommended) that a client/patient MUST NOT discontinue or reduce any medication or dosage of medication prescribed by their doctors while they take hypnotherapy.
Therapy Process
-
Both therapist and client sign a consent form. Under that, a client agrees to allow the therapist to put her/him in trance and follow the methods required for treatment. And the therapist agrees to keep all the details about the client confidential.
-
Presenting symptoms are noted and analysed by the therapist.
-
A detailed case history is taken from the client including their medical, personal and professional background.
-
Treatment plan is designed and a tentative number of sessions are suggested
-
Counselling is done to help the client understand and navigate through their feelings and find a solution (clear or vague) to their problems themselves
-
Based on analysis of symptoms by the therapist and understanding of client, SMART goal is set
-
Techniques that are to be used are explained to the clients.
-
Finally, all questions/doubts regarding hypnotherapy are addressed to and once the client is able to trust the process and the therapist, the treatment begins
What is the treatment process of hypnotherapy?
-
Induction: A trained hypnotherapist uses verbal cues, repetition, and mental imagery to guide you into a deeply relaxed state. This might involve imagining a peaceful scene or focusing on your breathing.
-
Deepening: The therapist helps you go deeper into this state of relaxation and focus. This phase enhances your receptiveness to suggestions.
-
Suggestion: While in this hypnotic state, you (your unconscious mind) are more open to suggestions that can help change your thoughts, feelings, or behaviours. These suggestions are tailored to your specific goals, such as reducing anxiety, managing pain, or quitting smoking/or any other addition, weight management, phobia etc.
-
Awakening: The therapist gradually brings you out of the hypnotic state, helping you return to full awareness.
-
Homework and teaching self-hypnosis: Post the session, the therapist gives exercises like journaling, reverse meditation, meditation, self-hypnosis etc. to aid the process of treatment. This is done to not only continue the process of change and healing and in between sessions but also to make the client self-dependent in tackling the symptom in future.
