Due to different root cause, our behaviour depends on varying degree of confidence we have. It’s our confidence level that affects our thinking and manifests into our behaviour both in personal and professional lives. Decision making, procrastination, health issues, relationship strains, even setting personal boundaries becomes difficult if we are not confident.
Few common root causes are emotional trauma, physical trauma, level of self-respect, conflict, miscommunication, conditioning (mostly societal) etc. that leads to various emotional distress and affects our confidence level. Though under confidence is a common problem, disguised over confidence can bring in narcissistic behaviour and that can ruin our professional and personal relationships.
Clinical hypnotherapy does address the root cause behind under or over confidence, but it does starts with addressing the confidence level. Because unless we are confident that the therapy can genuinely help us, it becomes difficult both for the therapist and client to develop a bond and improve our trust on ourselves.
Basic techniques like ego strengthening, one-stage dissociative method, time regression and basic trauma management can help one deal with these symptoms and manage our confidence level. Once the confidence is established, the therapy can work on root cause and help in maintaining the confidence level. For example, if a patient is brought into an emergency room with a broken hand, the first step will be to fix the hand and manage pain then the psychological trauma impact can be assessed and addressed.
A therapist can help you manage confidence level and also address the root cause in the same session. However total symptom can be managed with multiple sessions (3-10) depending on the root causes.
